The Hoosier Heritage Conference race began in earnest this
past weekend. The result was some typical barn burning action. When the dust
settled, Delta has the early advantage with several squads nipping at their
heels.

The Eagles exploded in overtime Friday night to defeat Yorktown 55-42. It made Delta 2-0 in the league because
of an early season victory over Pendleton heights. Mount Vernon escaped those same Arabians at
home Friday to win their conference opener. The Marauders were 59-50 winners
behind the 17 points of Brad Volz. The other conference victory Friday night
belonged to Greenfield-Central who won the battle of Hancock County
49-41 over New Palestine.

Non-conference play over the weekend saw one major upset.
The Shelbyville Golden Bears went down to Jennings County
on Friday 64-53. That same night, Rushville was hammering Franklin County 70-53. Saturday
saw Greenfield get a first hand look at a tough Avon squad. The Cougars were no match in a 77-38 loss.
Rushville made it two for two by downing the always tough Blue River Vikings 51-48.
