Hoosier
Heritage teams were not in a giving mood on the Saturday after Christmas. One
squad served notice they will continue to be a force in the conference race,
and two others picked up marquis victories over non-conference opposition.
It won’t
count in the league standings but Rushville made another statement that they
are a candidate for the HHC crown by dumping Shelbyville in the first round of
the Shelby Shootout 55-44. Zach Comer led the Lions with 16 points and C.J.
West added 15 in the scoring column. The win moved Rushville to 6-2 on the
campaign and set up a meeting with Roncalli on Monday evening. Shelbyville was
led by the 14 points of Garrett Abner.
Delta
travelled to Indianapolis and the bright lights of Conseco Fieldhouse where
they handled traditional power Richmond a serious thumping. The Eagles erased a
one point deficit at the end of three quarters by outscoring the Red Devils
27-9 over the last eight minutes. That was enough for a 67-40 verdict. Delta
placed five players in double figures during the contest.
New
Palestine joined the victory parade by dumping Jennings County 53-44. The
Dragons evened their season record at 3-3 with the win. Pat Feeney led New
Palestine with 12 points.
